Spectrum Medical Group's Pathology Division provides a full-range of professional anatomic and clinical pathology services to hospitals, doctors, and physician-owned laboratories. We are committed to providing local, point-of-care services and to being accessible as pathology consultants. As a result, it is our privilege to work with hospitals, physicians, and laboratories recognized for excellence.
The Pathology Division utilizes state-of-the-art techniques to provide the highest level of anatomic pathology diagnostic services to its clients. Ancillary anatomic pathology techniques include an automated immunohistochemistry laboratory with a comprehensive library of monoclonal antibodies for tumor diagnosis, prognostication and response to chemotherapy. Diagnostic panels are available for ease of ordering. (Technical services are provided in association with NorDx Laboratories.)
Flow cytometry and molecular pathology laboratories provide hematologic and solid tumor flow services as well as a variety of molecular diagnostics including B and T cell gene rearrangement studies, Human Papilloma Virus testing, Polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and in-situ hybridization (ISH/FISH). (Technical services are provided by NorDx Laboratories.)
Our cytopathology laboratories utilize both conventional and "Thin Prep" PAP smear technologies, as well as Autocyte technology for non-gynecologic cytology. We also offer rapid cytologic interpretation at the bedside or in the radiology suite.
Spectum's Pathology Division has developed a rigorous quality assurance (QA) program for surgical pathology and cytopathology. Our QA program includes extensive prospective peer review, analysis of frozen section accuracy and ongoing benchmarking with other institutions. We also regularly monitor turnaround times for surgical pathology and cytopathology reports. Our extensive cytopathology quality program allows us to feed back important practice or clinician-specific data, allowing improved and more cost-effective patient care.
Difficult or unusual cases are commonly referred to an array of nationally recognized pathologists at no charge to the patient or client.
