Joel graduated Clark University in 1995 with a degree in Psychology before continuing on with an athletic training internship at the University of Maine. As an athletic trainer he worked in multiple high school and clinical settings including head athletic trainer of Moloka’i High School in Hawaii. He returned to Maine in 1999 and worked in a clinical rehab setting before opening a business performing functional capacity assessments to determine return to work capabilities. He graduated from the University of New England’s Physician Assistant Program in 2009, and spent two years working in orthopaedics in New Hampshire before coming to OA Centers for Orthopaedics. Joel works primarily with Dr. Eric Hoffman who specializes in orthopaedic sports medicine, with a special interest in arthroscopic treatment of knee and shoulder injuries.
Joel is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), Physician Assistants in Orthopaedic Surgery (PAOS), and the Downeast Association of Physician Assistants (DEAPA).
