Dr. Hoffman graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle and Duke University School of Medicine. He served his general surgery and orthopaedic surgery residency training at Duke University, rotating through all disciplines of orthopaedic surgery. Shortly afterward, he was awarded a clinical traveling fellowship from the Carolina Orthopaedic Research Foundation and spent time providing orthopaedic care in Nepal. Prior to his joining OA Centers of Orthopaedics in 1998, Dr. Hoffman practiced general orthopaedics and sports medicine in southern New Hampshire. He practices orthopaedic sports medicine with a special interest in arthroscopic treatment of knee and shoulder injuries. He is the team physician for Falmouth High School, consultant for other local high schools, Sunday River Ski Resort, and the Portland Pirates, as well as an instructor for the Maine Medical Center Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Hoffman has a Subspecialty Certificate in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is active in many sports including triathlons and is a 2007 Ironman Lake Placid finisher.
